Thé Lau (born Matheus J. Lau on July 17, 1952) was a famous Dutch musician and writer. He was best known as the lead singer of the band The Scene. Thé Lau was born in Bergen, North Holland, and passed away on June 23, 2015.

Thé Lau's Music Journey
Thé Lau played guitar in many bands. He was also part of a Dutch band called Neerlands Hoop Express.
In 1979, he started his own band, The Scene. Thé Lau was the lead singer and played guitar. Their most famous songs include "Blauw" and "Iedereen is van de wereld."
In 2003, Thé Lau left The Scene for a while. He toured Dutch theaters with keyboard player Jan-Peter Bast. Later, in 2006, he started a new tour called Tempel der liefde (Temple of Love).
The Scene reunited in 2007 with Thé Lau and three original members. They started touring again and released a new album. In 2010, Thé Lau had a number one hit song. He worked with Dutch rapper Lange Frans on the song "Zing voor me".
Thé Lau's Books
Thé Lau also had a career as a writer. In 2000, he published his first book of short stories. It was called De sterren van de hemel (The Stars of Heaven).
In 2003, his song lyrics were published in a book titled Thé Lau, de teksten. His first novel, Hemelrijk, came out in 2004. He also wrote a collection of music stories called In de dakgoot (In the Gutter).
In 2007, his work appeared in 1000 vissen. This book was a collection of stories about the Spaarndammerbuurt neighborhood in Amsterdam. Thé Lau had lived and worked there for 15 years.
Thé Lau's Health
In August 2013, Thé Lau was diagnosed with throat cancer. Doctors told him in April 2014 that his illness could not be cured. He passed away in June 2015 in Amsterdam.
