The History of Thacher
Thacher used to be known by a slightly different name: Thatcher. Back in 1886, a post office opened there, helping people send and receive mail. This post office stayed open for about 16 years, closing in 1902. The name "Thatcher" came from a blacksmith who lived in the area. Blacksmiths were important people who worked with metal to make tools and other useful items.
