About the Show
The show follows a group of teenagers who work at a made-up TV station called So Weird TV. Their job is to create commercials for really unusual products. These strange items come from their boss, a company called Jamco. Besides making ads, So Weird TV also creates funny versions of other TV shows. For example, they parody shows like Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Meet the Characters
Here are the main characters who work at So Weird TV:
- Alana Johnston – She is the boss of the station. Alana is a good friend, but she can sometimes be a bit strict.
- Kayla Lorette – Kayla is one of the workers. Alana often criticizes her. In the second season, Kayla starts to like James.
- James Hartnett – James also works at the station. He likes Hannah, but he doesn't realize that Kayla likes him.
- Hannah Hogan – Hannah is very popular at the station. She is often too confident, which can sometimes cause problems for her. Her dad owns the company Jamco.
- Joey Lucius – Joey is another worker. He always seems to get everyone's attention.
- AJ Vaage – AJ works at the station and often helps out his friends.
- Alex Spencer – Alex is a worker who gets along well with almost everyone.
How the Show Was Made
Many scenes in That's So Weird! were filmed in front of a live audience. This means real people watched and reacted as the scenes were being shot. The first season was filmed in a former school building in Toronto, Canada. Later seasons moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia. They filmed at Studio 1 at CBC Halifax.

Special Episodes
The show also had a special episode called "That's So Scary!". This episode had two versions: one online and one on TV. They both had different funny sketches. For example, the online version had a sketch called "Ghost Chasers." The TV version had "The Mom Whisperer" instead.
Mini Episodes
There were also four short "mini episodes" created. These mini episodes showed sketches from the first two seasons. They did not include the regular story parts of the show. The theme song from season two played at the start of these mini episodes.
Fun Recurring Sketches
Some jokes and characters appeared often throughout the series:
- Team Drama – In every episode, something new happens with the team. In Season two, Kayla likes James, who likes Hannah.
- This is Daniel Book – This is a funny version of the TV show This is Daniel Cook. Daniel Book is 19 years old, but he acts like he is six! He goes on silly adventures like dating and snowboarding.
- Talking with Logan and Wilf – This sketch features two boys, played by girls, who talk about all sorts of things.
- Poptrendz – This sketch makes fun of entertainment news shows like etalk. Poptrendz features different guest stars talking and going on adventures. For example, James meets Eva, and there are interviews with Mario and Peach, or students from Hogwarts.
- Raptoritis – A boy has a rare condition called Raptoritis. When he hears loud noises, he starts acting like a velociraptor!
- Like a Doctor – This sketch is about a man who thinks he is a doctor. Why? Because he has watched every episode of Grey's Anatomy!
- Abby and Trevor – In these sketches, Abby reads really strange things out loud. Trevor, who likes Abby, has a very hard time trying to tell her how he feels.
- Jamco Commercials – In most episodes, the team gets a new product from the made-up company Jamco. Then they have to create a commercial for it. Some of these weird products include "Extra-cise," "Combo-cise," "Chock-lick," and "Invisiball."
