Thayer's Hotel, also known as Thayer's Inn, is a historic building located at 136 Main Street in downtown Littleton, New Hampshire. It was built in 1843 and is a very important example of early hotels in the region. The building shows off a special style called Greek Revival architecture. This style makes it look a bit like an ancient Greek temple. In 1982, the hotel was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's recognized as a significant historical site.

Discovering Thayer's Inn
Thayer's Inn is found in the main business area of Littleton. It sits on the south side of Main Street, close to the post office. The building is made of wood and has three and a half stories. It has a pointed roof and its outside is covered with clapboards.
A Look at the Architecture
The front of the roof has a triangular shape, like a pediment. This part sticks out from the building. It is held up by huge, three-story columns. These columns are called Doric columns and have special grooves carved into them. Behind these columns, the front of the building has five sections. There are doorways in the middle of each floor. The doors on the upper floors open onto balconies. These balconies are supported by fancy carved brackets. On top of the building, there is an eight-sided tower called a cupola.
Inside the Historic Hotel
The inside of Thayer's Inn still has its original layout. Many of its first decorations and finishes are also still there. The top floor, which is the attic, was once a large ballroom. In the early 1900s, this space was changed into bedrooms.
The Story of Thayer's Inn
This hotel was built in 1843. It was one of the first big hotels in northern New Hampshire. It was built before the railroad even arrived in the area. The people who built it knew that the railroad would bring many visitors.

Political Rallies and Famous Visitors
Throughout history, Thayer's Inn has seen many political rallies. These gatherings happened from the time of the American Civil War up until the late 1900s. Important people would come to speak and meet here. Even Henry Ford, who created the Ford Motor Company, was interested in the hotel. In the 1930s, he wanted parts of its architecture for his museum of American history.
