The Albert, once known as the Griswold Building, is a cool old building in Downtown Detroit, Michigan. It's located at 1214 Griswold Street. This building was originally an office building but is now home to many apartments. Building's Early Days in Detroit

How Tall is The Albert?
The Albert is a tall building, standing 12 floors high. It has 127 different apartments or rooms inside. This makes it a significant "high-rise" building in Detroit.
Designed by a Famous Architect
A very famous architect named Albert Kahn designed this building. He was known for his amazing work. The Albert shows a special style called Art Moderne. This style is known for its smooth lines and sleek look, often inspired by modern machines and transportation. It's interesting because it shows how Kahn's style was changing from an older style called Art Deco to this newer Art Moderne look.
What Does the Outside Look Like?
The outside of The Albert, called its façade, has two main parts. The bottom three floors are covered in a light-colored stone called limestone. This section has nine large window areas, called bays. Above this, the next nine floors are made of brick. The middle five sections of these brick floors are set back a little, making the building look even more unique.
