The Big Welsh Bite Food Festival is a super fun annual event! It's a big food festival that happens every year in Pontypridd, a town in Wales.

About the Festival

This exciting festival started in 2003. It takes place every August in a beautiful spot called Ynysangharad War Memorial Park. This park is also home to the National Lido of Wales, which is a cool swimming pool, plus a cafe and a bandstand.

The Big Welsh Bite is a really popular event. About 20,000 people visit over just two days! This makes it a very important and busy time for Pontypridd. Ynysangharad Park is right next to the River Taff. You can also see some of the classic terraced houses that are common in the South Wales Valleys.

What You'll Find There

The main goal of the festival is to show off and celebrate local businesses and their amazing products. The people who organize the event say it's special because all the food and drinks you find there are made by the people selling them. This means everything is grown, caught, brewed, or baked right by the stallholders!

The festival mostly focuses on delicious food and drinks. You can try traditional Welsh cuisine and tasty dishes from all over the world. There's often a special stage where chefs give cooking demonstrations. You might even see a bake-off competition or a relaxing beer garden for adults.

Besides food, the festival also has stalls selling handmade crafts. There are fun arena shows to watch. In the past, there have been farm areas where you can see animals. There was even a "Silent World Aquarium" to explore!

Who Organizes It

The Big Welsh Bite Food Festival is put together by the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. Many different companies help support the festival. Some past sponsors include Glamorgan Brewing Company and a local ice cream maker called Subzero. The local radio station GTFM 107.9 FM has also helped out.

The Welsh Government has also supported the festival. They do this through a special program called the Food Festival Grant Scheme.
