Bringing Dr. Seuss's Story to Life
The play The Cat in the Hat first opened its doors in December 2009. This exciting premiere happened at the Dorfman Theatre in London. It was known as the Cottesloe Theatre back then. Katie Mitchell, who adapted the book, also directed this first show. An actor named Angus Wright played the mischievous Cat. The show was so popular that it moved to the Young Vic theatre in London in January 2010. Later, it even traveled to Paris, France, in March 2010!
More Exciting Performances Across the UK
Years later, in 2014, a brand new version of the play was created. This production, directed by Lillie Collier, debuted at the famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe. After its success there, it came to the Pleasance Theatre in London in January 2015. This version then went on a tour, visiting many different places across the United Kingdom.
Holiday Shows and New Tours
For Christmas in 2018, the Curve, Leicester theatre teamed up with Rose Theatre Kingston. Together, they put on another fresh production of the play. This show was directed by Suba Das and also went on a tour across the UK in the spring of 2019. The very next Christmas, in 2019, the play was performed at the Turbine Theatre in London. This production, located at the historic Battersea Power Station, was again directed by Lillie Collier.
