The Circus Series is a collection of three exciting books by the famous British children's author, Enid Blyton. These stories take you behind the scenes of a lively circus.

What is The Circus Series About?

The first book in the series is called Mr Galliano's Circus. It introduces us to a boy named Jimmy Brown. Jimmy and his family join a traveling circus. His dad gets a job helping out with everything.

Jimmy loves animals very much. This love helps him find a special dog named Lucky. The first story is all about Jimmy, his parents, and his loyal dog Lucky. You also meet other fun people who work at the circus.

Meet the Circus Characters

One of Jimmy's friends is Lotta. She is a young girl who is a talented horse rider. Other interesting characters include Lilliput, who works with monkeys. Stanley is a funny clown who makes everyone laugh.

Mr. Tonks takes care of Jumbo, the huge elephant. Lotta's parents, Lal and Laddo, are also part of the circus family. Together, they make the circus a magical place.

New Adventures and Challenges

In the second book, Hurrah for the Circus!, and the third, Circus Days Again, Mr. Galliano's circus grows even bigger. New acts join the show, making it more amazing. Madame Prunella arrives with her talking parrots.

Three new clowns named Twinkle, Pippi, and Google also join the fun. A clever performing seal and twelve zebras add to the excitement. But not everything goes smoothly. A new ringmaster arrives, and things start to go wrong. Jimmy and Lotta, the brave circus children, decide they must do something to help.

The Books in the Series

There are three main books in The Circus Series. They were published over a few years.

  • Mr Galliano's Circus (1938)
  • Hurrah for the Circus! (1939)
  • Circus Days Again (1942)

Enid Blyton also wrote another short story about Galliano's circus. It was called A Circus Adventure. This story first appeared in a magazine called Sunny Stories. Later, it was printed again in a bigger book called Enid Blyton's Omnibus in 1952.

Blyton wrote two other books that also feature a circus. However, these stories are not connected to The Circus Series. They are Come to the Circus! and The Circus of Adventure.
