Discover the Secret World of Dolls
This exciting children's story is about a china doll named Annabelle. She is very old, more than one hundred years old! The book takes place in modern times. It is told from a third-person point of view.
Annabelle and her doll family belong to an 8-year-old girl named Kate Palmer. These dolls have a secret. They can move, talk, and even play a tiny piano in their dollhouse. But they must always return to their starting spot. They do this whenever a human comes near.
What Happens if Dolls Are Seen?
If a doll is seen moving by a human, there is a rule. They get "frozen" for 24 hours. This is called "Doll State." It means they cannot move or talk during that time. If a doll does something very noticeable, they can be "frozen" forever. This is called "Permanent Doll State."
New Friends and a Mystery
Kate's younger sister, Nora, turns 5 years old. For her birthday, Nora gets a new dollhouse. It comes with a plastic doll family called the Funcrafts. The Funcrafts have a daughter named Tiffany. Tiffany quickly becomes Annabelle's best friend.
Annabelle finds her Auntie Sarah's old journal. Auntie Sarah has been missing for 45 years. No one has seen or heard from her since then. Annabelle and Tiffany decide to form a group. They call it the Society for Exploration and Location of Missing Persons. It's shortened to SELMP.
The Search for Auntie Sarah
Annabelle and Tiffany are determined to find Auntie Sarah. They use the clues from her old journal. They figure out that Auntie Sarah is stuck somewhere. So, they begin a brave journey to find her. They successfully locate her! The doll family is finally reunited and very happy.
