The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale is a large, fancy shopping mall in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It's a great place to shop, eat, and hang out!

This mall wasn't always called The Galleria. It started as an outdoor shopping area called Sunrise Center in 1954. Later, most of it was torn down, but one store, Jordan Marsh, stayed. The whole area was then rebuilt into the indoor mall we see today.

The Galleria opened in different parts. The first part opened on November 11, 1980, with stores like Burdines (now Macy's) and Saks Fifth Avenue. More sections opened in 1982 with Neiman Marcus, and in 1983 with Lord & Taylor.

Today, Keystone Florida Property Holding Corporation owns the mall. It is managed by Jones Lang LaSalle.

Main Stores Today

The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale has several big main stores, also called "anchor" stores. These are the largest shops that help attract visitors to the mall.

  • Dillard's: This department store is very large, covering about 192,174 square feet.
  • H&M: This popular clothing store is about 28,000 square feet.
  • Macy's: Another big department store, Macy's takes up about 198,433 square feet.

Past Stores and Changes

Over the years, some of the main stores at The Galleria have changed or closed. Here's a look at some of the stores that used to be there:

  • Burdines: This store changed its name to Macy's in 2005.
  • Jordan Marsh: This store closed in 1991. It later became Dillard's in 1993.
  • Lord & Taylor: This store closed in February 2002. Part of its space is now a Powerhouse Gym, and some of it is empty.
  • Neiman Marcus: This store closed in September 2020.
  • Saks Fifth Avenue: This store closed in July 2008. Later, parts of its space became an H&M clothing store and an IWG business office. Some space is still empty.
