The Games Affair (1975) was New Zealand's very first TV show made just for kids! It was a thrilling fantasy series with six parts, shown on NZBC.

The story follows three young people who accidentally get mixed up in a big problem. A sneaky professor and his two helpers are causing trouble during the Christchurch Xth Commonwealth Games.

Henry Ropata and his son Chris arrive at Harewood Airport. They are there to pick up Alley Jones from Australia and Paul Chapman from Canada. These two teenagers are staying with them during a special youth conference happening at the same time as the Games.

But then, they discover something strange! A mad professor is trying to use his two assistants to give athletes a special "enhancer" potion. This potion makes the athletes super-fast and strong, but it's not fair! The three youngsters must figure out how to stop the professor's bad plans.

The show was made by ENDEAVOUR Television productions in NEW ZEALAND. Each of the six episodes was about 24 minutes long.

Funny Moments

The special "enhancer" potion caused some very funny and unexpected things to happen!

  • An elderly lady was watching the athletic events. She accidentally got hit with the potion when an assistant was distracted. The old lady suddenly started running super fast! She even won the 100-meter sprint, surprising everyone.
  • A traffic officer stopped the scientist's car because it wasn't registered. The officer then got hit with the potion! He started doing super-fast star-jumps. Then he ran away from the scene faster than his own motorcycle!
  • A high-diver got hit with the potion. He ended up crashing through the ceiling of the building! He flew for quite a distance, even surprising passengers on a plane. He finally landed in a river miles away from the stadium.
