The Google Book is a fun book of poems for children. It has many cool pictures. The book was written by Vincent Cartwright Vickers.

The First Google Book (1913)

The very first version of The Google Book came out in 1913. Only 100 copies were made. This is called a limited edition because only a small number were printed. Vincent Cartwright Vickers paid for it himself.

The book is full of amazing pictures of make-believe birds. These birds have funny names like the Poggle and the Swank. Each bird has a short poem about it. The "Google" in the book's title is a strange creature. It lives in a pond in a lovely garden. At night, this creature wanders around where the birds live.

Later Versions of the Book

The 1931 Edition

In 1931, a new version of the book was released. This was a trade edition. This means it was made for regular stores and more copies were printed. This version had fewer poems and pictures than the first one.

The 1979 Edition

Another version came out in 1979. This one was even smaller. It had three fewer pictures than the 1931 book.

The 2019 Expanded Edition

The book was published again in 2019. This newest version has more pictures and poems than any other. Some of these pictures and poems had never been seen before! James Campbell (potter), who was V. C. Vickers' grandson, wrote the introduction for this book. He passed away two months after writing it.

It's interesting that the book's name is the same as Google, the famous internet company. Many people have noticed this fun coincidence!
