The Lost Saucer is a fun TV show from America, made by Sid and Marty Krofft. It stars Ruth Buzzi and Jim Nabors as two silly aliens. They accidentally take a boy and his babysitter on an adventure in their flying saucer! The show first aired new episodes from September to December 1975. Reruns continued until December 1976. It was also shown daily from 1978 to 1985 as part of a group of Krofft shows.
Story of the Lost Saucer
The Lost Saucer is about two friendly robots named Fi (Ruth Buzzi) and Fum (Jim Nabors). They are from the year 2369 and can travel through time. One day, their flying saucer lands on Earth in 1975.
Fi and Fum kindly invite a young boy named Jerry (Jarrod Johnson) and his babysitter Alice (Alice Playten) to look inside their spaceship. But as more people start to gather, the robots get worried. They quickly take off, with Jerry and Alice still inside!
The flying saucer can travel through time. However, the controls that let them pick an exact date got broken. This means Fi and Fum can't take Jerry and Alice back to their own time and place.
The show follows the four friends as they have many adventures. Fi and Fum often argue about how to control the ship. They try to get Jerry and Alice home. They also hope to return to their own planet, ZR-3. There, their creators, Doctor Locker (played by Jim Nabors) and Professor Pringle (played by Ruth Buzzi), might be able to fix the saucer.
Adventures in Time
Their adventures usually happen on Earth, either in the far past or the far future. Sometimes they travel hundreds or even thousands of years ahead. Each episode often teaches a lesson about society. For example, they might visit a world where everyone has numbers instead of names. Or a city where people are very lazy because robots do all the work.
A special creature called the Dorse (played by Larry Larsen) also joins them. The Dorse is a mix of a dog and a horse. It has the body of a big, shaggy dog and the head of a small horse.
There were 16 episodes made for the 1975–76 season. The first six episodes were later shown again as part of The Krofft Supershow.
