The Magic Serpent facts for kids

The Magic Serpent (which means "Decisive Battle of the Giant Magic Dragon" in Japanese) is an exciting adventure film from 1966. It was directed by Tetsuya Yamanouchi. This movie is full of magic, ninjas, and giant creatures!

Story of the Magic Serpent

The film begins in the peaceful Oumi Kingdom. Lord Ogata ruled this land. But a bad general named Daijo Yuki wanted to take over. He worked with a powerful evil ninja called Orochimaru. They attacked the kingdom. Lord Ogata and his wife were defeated. They quickly sent their young son, Ikazuchi-Maru, away with their soldiers. They escaped in a small boat.

Orochimaru chased them. He changed into a huge, scary serpent! The serpent sank the boat. It almost caught Ikazuchi-Maru. But then, a giant eagle swooped in. It saved the young boy and hurt Orochimaru.

Ikazuchi-Maru's Training

Many years later, Ikazuchi-Maru is a young man. He has learned amazing ninja skills. He also knows how to use special toad magic. An old wise man named Dojin Hiki taught him everything.

One day, some ninjas sent by Daijo Yuki attacked Ikazuchi-Maru. He used his new skills to fight them off. During his journey, he met a kind girl named Tsunade. They quickly became good friends.

Secrets and Revenge

Meanwhile, Dojin Hiki faced Orochimaru. It turned out Orochimaru was Hiki's old student! Hiki was also the giant eagle who saved Ikazuchi-Maru. He had given Orochimaru a scar when Orochimaru was in serpent form. Orochimaru then attacked Hiki with ninja magic. He poisoned the old master.

Ikazuchi-Maru and Tsunade returned. Hiki was dying. He told Ikazuchi-Maru about Orochimaru. He asked his student to get revenge. Just before Hiki passed away, he looked at Tsunade in surprise. He seemed to realize something important about her.

Before leaving, Ikazuchi-Maru said goodbye to Tsunade. An old "spider" woman took care of Tsunade. She told Tsunade to follow Ikazuchi-Maru. The woman gave Tsunade a special spider hairpin. This hairpin could summon a giant spider. But Tsunade could only use it once. If she used it more, the spider would turn against her!

The Final Battle

Ikazuchi-Maru continued his quest. He met a girl named Saki and her little brother Shirota. Their village was having a hard time because of Daijo Yuki's men. Yuki tried to punish Saki and Shirota. But Ikazuchi-Maru appeared! He announced himself as the mighty ninja "Jiraiya"!

Jiraiya demanded revenge against Yuki. He wanted justice for his parents' deaths. He also wanted to get his kingdom back. Then, Orochimaru appeared. Jiraiya and Orochimaru fought with incredible ninja magic.

A big secret about Tsunade was revealed. She was Orochimaru's daughter! Her father wanted her to kill Jiraiya with poison. But his plans failed. Jiraiya then set out to save Saki and Shirota from Yuki. Yuki was celebrating in his stronghold. Jiraiya changed into a giant toad! He caused a lot of trouble in Yuki's castle.

Orochimaru then faced Jiraiya. He transformed into his powerful giant serpent form. A huge, exciting battle began between these two giant magical forces!
