Deza's mother decides to move the family to find her husband. Deza and her brother, Jimmie, end up living in a Hooverville. These were shantytowns built by people who had lost their homes. Their Hooverville is located outside Flint, Michigan.
Hopes and Challenges
Life in the Hooverville is tough. Deza's brother, Jimmie, eventually leaves the camp. He hopes to become a performer and find success. Deza and her mother continue their journey. They keep searching for Deza's father, hoping to reunite their family.
