They try to save other animals who have been taken by some bad guys. The story happens in the beautiful natural parks of Andalusia.

The Missing Lynx first came out in Spain on December 25, 2008. It was later released in the United States on March 9, 2012.

The Story of the Missing Lynx

Felix's Adventure Begins

The main character is Félix, a Iberian lynx. He is a bit clumsy and often has bad luck. After one of his many accidents, Félix is taken to an animal rescue center. This center is in the Doñana National Park.

At the center, he meets Beeea, a brave goat, and Astarté, a falcon with a hurt wing. While Félix was away, the park had made its security much tighter. This was because animals were being mysteriously kidnapped from other parks.

A Strange Conspiracy?

The rescue center now looks a bit like a prison. Félix's friend, Gus the chameleon, is very worried. Gus thinks the humans who care for them are planning to keep the animals locked up. He believes they want to do experiments on them.

The other animals are not sure if Gus is right. Then, a female lynx named Lincesa arrives at the shelter. Félix and Lincesa start to like each other.

The Kidnapping and Escape

One night, some mercenaries sneak into the shelter. These are led by Newmann, who calls himself "the greatest hunter in the world." They were hired by a very rich man named Noé. Noé has a strange plan: he wants to create a kind of Noah's Ark for animals that are in danger.

Thanks to two clumsy mercenaries, Félix manages to escape his cage. He then frees his friends from the trucks they were put in. But Lincesa is hit by a special dart from Newmann. Astarté, even with her injured wing, flies back to the shelter. She sets off the alarm, letting the humans know the animals are gone.

The Search for the Kidnapped Animals

Félix and his friends decide to find the kidnapped animals. They want to stop Noé's plans. Later, their mole friend Rupert joins them. Rupert had escaped from Noé's ship.

They get help from a group of wolves to hide from Newmann and his mercenaries. However, the wolves and some other animals get caught. Félix starts to think his bad luck is causing all the problems.

They then meet Diogenes, a vulture who cares a lot about the environment. Diogenes gives them things to build a makeshift vehicle. This helps them try to outrun the mercenaries. But Félix leaves the group, thinking his bad luck will keep them safe.

Noé's Secret and Lincesa's Wisdom

On Noé's ship, Lincesa finds out that Noé can talk to animals! He tells her that people once thought he was crazy for saying this. But after he was let out, he used his special skill to become very rich. For example, he got tips from horses at races and moles finding oil.

Noé's plan is to gather endangered animals and take them to a safe island. He believes this is his way of thanking them for helping him get rich. He asks Lincesa, "What's the point in being free if you're not alive?" But Lincesa cleverly turns his words around. She asks him, "What's the point in being alive if you're not free?" Hearing this makes Noé realize his plan might not be so good after all.

The Truth About Rupert

Félix finds Rupert, who had disappeared. It turns out Rupert was helping Newmann track them! After the animal center events, Noé had put a tiny chip in Rupert. He then let Rupert go, hoping he would lead them to the escaped animals. In return, Rupert's family would be safe.

Félix realizes his bad luck wasn't the problem. He returns to his friends just in time to save them from Newmann. The hunter underestimates Félix, and the lynx scratches his face. Newmann gets very angry and tries to shoot Félix. But Noé calls him and tells him to stop the hunt. Even angrier, Newmann takes over the ship. He locks Noé in a cage and sets up traps for Félix.

The Final Showdown

While Gus and Beeea free Noé, Newmann tries to lure Félix by using Lincesa as bait. Newmann accidentally causes an explosion that starts to flood the ship. All the caged animals begin to be evacuated.

While fighting Newmann, Félix realizes something important. If he holds onto the hunter, Newmann will be hurt by his own traps because of Félix's "bad luck." This leads to Newmann seemingly being crushed by a large trap. Félix, Lincesa, the other animals, and Noé all make it to safety in life rafts.

A Happy Ending

After their big adventure, Félix and Lincesa have a cub! Gus proudly shows the cub to all the other animals, just like in Lion King. The movie ends with the two clumsy mercenaries, who now work at the shelter, wondering if they have seen Félix before.

In a short scene after the credits, we see that Newmann actually survived! But now he is very afraid of cats.
