The Payne & Mencias Palladium is a fantastic concert hall in Carmel, Indiana. It's a big place, about 151,000 square feet, and can seat 1,600 people! This amazing building is part of the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts.
The Palladium opened its doors on January 29, 2011. After many years of planning, it became a place where famous artists from all over the world perform.

Design and Architecture
The Palladium has a special design. It looks the same from all four sides. The building is shaped around a large, domed central area. This design was inspired by an old Italian building called Villa Capra, La Rotonda, built in 1566.
The concert hall inside is shaped like a traditional "shoebox." This means it has high ceilings and thick walls. These features help the sound bounce around perfectly. The outside of the building is made of limestone. Inside, there are special glass panels that can move. These panels help change how the sound travels in the hall. This makes sure every performance sounds great!
Who Designed It?
The Palladium was designed by a company called David M. Schwarz Architects. They are based in Washington, D.C. Another local company, CSO Architects, also helped with the plans. The building itself was constructed by Shiel Sexton Co. Inc. from Indianapolis.
Home to Music and Arts
The Palladium is the main home for the Great American Songbook Foundation. This group works to preserve and celebrate classic American music. Their offices and a special exhibit gallery are located on the Palladium's Gallery level.
The Center Campus
The Palladium is part of a larger area called the Allied Solutions Center campus. This campus is about 6.5 acres big. It has two main buildings: the Palladium and the James Building.
The campus is home to six different arts groups:
- Actors Theatre of Indiana
- Carmel Symphony Orchestra
- Central Indiana Dance Ensemble
- Civic Theatre
- Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre
- Indiana Wind Symphony
The James Building has two more performance spaces. One is the Booth Tarkington Civic Theater. It's a 41,747 square foot theater with 500 seats. It looks a lot like a Broadway theater! The other space is the Studio Theatre. This is a 10,216 square foot "black box theater." It's very flexible, meaning the seats can be moved around for different kinds of shows.
Leadership and Growth
The Center for the Performing Arts has had several leaders over the years.
Early Leadership
Steven Libman was the first President and CEO of the Center. He worked there from 2009 to 2011. He helped plan the first few seasons of shows. He also put together two big opening night parties. Famous artists like Michael Feinstein, Chris Botti, and Dionne Warwick performed at these events. Steven Libman also helped create a TV special with Michael Feinstein. This show was watched by 11 million people and was even nominated for an Emmy Award!
New Leaders and Partnerships
In 2012, Tania Castroverde Moskalenko became the new CEO. She helped the Center offer even more shows and get more money from people and companies. In March 2015, the Center started an important partnership with Allied Solutions, a company based in Carmel.
In August 2016, Tania Moskalenko left her role. Jeffrey C. McDermott, who was on the board, became the temporary leader. A year later, in August 2017, he was officially chosen as the new full-time President and CEO.
In September 2024, Jeffrey McDermott announced a seven-year agreement with Allied Solutions. This led to the entire campus changing its name to the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts. Soon after, two local families made a generous donation. This led to the Palladium itself being renamed the Payne & Mencias Palladium.
