The Ronettes were a famous American girl group from New York City. They became very popular in the 1960s with their unique sound. The group started singing together in 1959 when they were teenagers.
They first formed as a five-member group called Ronnie and the Relatives. They performed regularly at a club called the Peppermint Lounge. There, they would dance The Twist and sing songs. Later, they changed their name to 'The Ronettes'. They had eight songs that made it onto the Billboard Top 100 music chart. The Ronettes were also the only girl group to tour with the famous band The Beatles in August 1966. The group stopped performing together in 1967.
