Nedra Talley (born January 27, 1946), now known as Nedra Talley-Ross, is an American singer who is retired from music. She is best known for being a member of the famous girl group The Ronettes. In this group, she sang with her cousins, Ronnie and Estelle Bennett. After Ronnie passed away in 2022, Nedra Talley became the last original member of The Ronettes who is still alive.

Music Career Highlights

In 1967, Nedra Talley and Estelle Bennett decided to leave The Ronettes. This was about ten years after the group first started. One reason for their departure was challenges with the group's producer, Phil Spector. He later married Ronnie Bennett.

Nedra Talley shared that she became a born-again Christian after meeting Scott Ross, who would become her husband. Because of her new faith, she also chose to leave The Ronettes. She felt there wasn't much room for Christian-inspired music in the group's style.

Christian Music Journey

In 1977, Nedra Talley recorded several Christian songs. These songs were written by Ted Sandquist, the music director at her church. The songs were released on an album called The Courts of the King: The Worship Music of Ted Sandquist. One special song, a mix of "Love of My Lord" and "Redwood Tree," was released as a single. Guitarist Phil Keaggy played on some of the songs with her. Later, for its 30th anniversary, this album was released on CD.

In 1978, Talley recorded her own solo album, Full Circle. This album featured contemporary Christian music. Phil Keaggy played music for her again on this album. Keaggy even wrote the main song, "Full Circle," and released his own version of it later. Nedra's husband, Scott Ross, produced this album. Inside the album cover, there was a story about Nedra's life and faith. There was also a cool photo from the mid-1960s. It showed Nedra and Estelle Bennett on a plane with The Beatles' John Lennon and George Harrison. The Beatles were big fans of The Ronettes! This album has not been released again since then.

Later Music and Recognition

Nedra Talley also sang background vocals on an old folk song called "Follow the Drinking Gourd." This song was part of a four-disc music collection by Roger McGuinn called The Folk Den Project (1995–2005).

In 2007, The Ronettes were honored for their contributions to music. They were officially added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Personal Life and Family

Nedra Talley has a diverse background. She has black, Native American, Irish, and Puerto Rican family roots. Her husband was Scott Ross (1939–2023). He used to be a DJ and later became an interviewer for The 700 Club on the Christian Broadcasting Network. Nedra and Scott had four children together. As of 2007, Nedra was working as a businesswoman in real estate. She lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
