The Story Begins
After a big victory against the Sister of the West, our heroes Lief, Barda, and Jasmine head back to Del. Del is the southernmost city in Deltora. Their new mission is to find the last of the evil Sisters, the Sister of the South.
Trouble in the Palace
When they arrive in Del, the heroes find strange things happening at the palace. People are getting very sick, and a weird, scary creature keeps attacking them. It's a mystery!
As they investigate, a helpful friend named Josef sadly falls ill. This makes the heroes realize something terrible is going on. They soon discover that a new part of the Palace Chapel was added by force. They suspect the Sister of the South is hidden there.
Facing the Guardian
A brave character named Nevets manages to defeat the strange creature. Just as this happens, the powerful Topaz Dragon arrives! The dragon is ready to destroy the Sister of the South.
Then, a shocking truth comes out. Paff, Josef's new assistant, was the real villain! She was the Guardian of the Sister. Paff was poisoning people and making the scary creature appear. She was so upset when her plans failed that she died.
A New Threat Rises
Just when everyone thinks the quest is over, a terrible secret is revealed. Josef had figured out that the evil Shadow Lord had a backup plan. The magic from the Sisters, which was poisoning the land, was also holding back something much worse.
This new threat is called the Grey Death. It's a flood of grey liquid that destroys everything it touches. It was trapped in a place called Hira, also known as the City of the Rats. Now, with the Sisters gone, the Grey Death is rising! It threatens to destroy all of Deltora.
Dragons Unite!
The Shadow Lord did not expect the dragons to work together. But they do! The Opal Dragon, Hopian, has now woken up. With all seven dragons awake, they team up. They manage to defeat four of the seven evil Ak-Baba creatures. Then, with their powerful fire, they destroy the Grey Death!
A Happy Ending
The book ends with a happy note. This great victory will be celebrated with a special festival called Dragon Night. The heroes, Lief, Barda, and Jasmine, will marry and have children. They will live long, peaceful, and happy lives. It is also hinted that the dragons will have more dragon babies, bringing new life to Deltora.
