The Sundays facts for kids
The Sundays were an English alternative rock band. They started in the late 1980s. This band released three albums during the 1990s.
The band began when Harriet Wheeler and guitarist David Gavurin met.
Early Days and First Album
The Sundays signed a record deal with Rough Trade Records. Their first song, called a single, was "Can't be Sure". It came out in 1989.
Their first album was named Reading, Writing and Arithmetic. It was released in 1990. This album received many good reviews. It reached number 4 on the music charts in the United Kingdom. Later in 1990, the album reached number 39 in the United States. Its success was mostly because radio stations played their song "Here's Where the Story Ends".
Second Album: Blind
In late October 1992, the band released their next album, Blind. This album was also successful. It reached number 103 on the Billboard 200 chart in the US. Blind sold half a million copies. The album got good reviews. However, some music critics thought the songs were not as well-written as those on the first album.
Third Album: Static & Silence
In autumn 1997, after five years, The Sundays released their third record. It was called Static & Silence. This album received mixed reviews. The first song on the album was "Summertime". It became their most successful song in the UK Charts at that time.
After the album Static & Silence, The Sundays took a break.
