The Turtles were a popular pop group from Los Angeles, California, that became famous in the 1960s. They are best known for their hit song "Happy Together." The band's main singers were Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman.
The Band's Journey
The Turtles started making music in 1965. They quickly became known for their catchy pop-rock songs. One of their band members, Chip Douglas, later left the group for a while. He went on to help produce music for another famous band, The Monkees. After working with The Monkees, Chip Douglas came back to The Turtles, this time as their producer.
After The Turtles
The original group stopped performing together in 1970. However, the two main singers, Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, continued to make music. They sang together under the name Flo and Eddie. They even performed with the famous musician Frank Zappa. The Turtles later reformed in 1983 and have been active since then.

The Turtles released several albums during their time together. Their songs often combined pop, folk, and psychedelic rock styles. Their most famous song, "Happy Together," was released in 1967 and became a huge hit.
