The Wolves in the Walls is a popular children's book. It was written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Dave McKean. The book first came out in 2003. It was published by HarperCollins in the United States and Bloomsbury in the United Kingdom. When it was released, many people loved it, and it won three awards that year. Later, in 2006, the book was turned into a musical. This show traveled around the UK and even visited the US in 2007.
Neil Gaiman shared that the idea for the story came from a nightmare his daughter Maddy had. She was only 4 years old at the time. In her dream, she thought there were wolves hiding inside the walls of their house! This scary idea became the main plot of the book. The story is about a girl named Lucy. She keeps hearing wolves in the walls of her family's home. Her family doesn't believe her at first. But one day, the wolves actually come out of the walls!
The book is also famous for its amazing artwork by Dave McKean. He used many different ways to create the pictures. These included photography, computer-generated imagery (CGI), and traditional drawing. This mix of styles makes the book's art very unique and special. You can also find The Wolves in the Walls in other languages, like Spanish, German, and Italian.
Book Adaptations

The Musical Show
In 2006, The Wolves in the Walls became a stage show. It was called a "Musical Pandemonium." Nick Powell wrote the music for the show. Neil Gaiman, the book's author, even helped write some of the song lyrics.
This musical was a team effort between the National Theatre of Scotland and Improbable theatre. It first opened in Glasgow, Scotland, in March 2006. After that, it went on a tour across the UK for the rest of the year. The show was very successful. It won the TMA Best Show for Children and Young People award in 2006. In October 2007, the musical traveled to New York City. It played off Broadway at the New Victory Theater for two weeks. People really enjoyed the production there too.
Virtual Reality Experience

The second part, called It's All Over, came out in April 2019 at the Tribeca Film Festival. The third and final part, They're Everywhere, was released in November 2019.
