The Theebine railway station was once a busy train station in Theebine, Queensland, Australia. It is now a closed station, meaning trains no longer stop there. This station was an important part of the North Coast railway line.

Just south of the station, the main North Coast line connected with other railway lines. These included the Kingaroy branch line and the Dickabram line. This made Theebine a key "junction" or meeting point for trains.

History of Theebine Station

The Theebine railway station was first known as Kilkivan Junction. The Railways Department changed its name to Theebine on May 23, 1910. The name "Theebine" comes from a word in the Waka language. This word, dhil-bvain, means the Australian lungfish, a special type of fish.

The Kingaroy Branch Line

The railway line connecting Kingaroy to Theebine opened in December 1904. This was one of the first branch lines built in Queensland. It was very important for the area.

Farmers used this line to transport their crops and goods. It also carried other commercial freight, which means items bought and sold by businesses. People also used the line to travel between towns. The Theebine to Kingaroy line officially closed in early 2010.
