Felch Township is a small community located in Dickinson County, Michigan. It is a type of local government area called a civil township. The township is named after Alpheus Felch, who was an important person in Michigan's history.
In 2020, about 687 people lived in Felch Township. It is part of the U.S. state of Michigan.

Geography of Felch Township
Felch Township covers a total area of about 143.8 square miles (372.47 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, which is about 143.1 square miles (367.36 square kilometers). A small part, about 0.7 square miles (5.10 square kilometers), is water.

There are several small communities within Felch Township. These are not separate towns but are groups of homes and businesses.
Felch Community
The community of Felch is an unincorporated community located along M-69. It used to be a station on a branch of the Chicago and North Western Railway. A post office has been open in Felch since 1906.
Metropolitan Village History
Metropolitan was once a busy village that started around 1880. It was created because of the iron ore found in the nearby Metropolitan Mine. This village was about one mile west of Felch. It was the last stop on a railway line coming from Escanaba.
The Metropolitan Mining Company planned out the village in 1881. It had a post office from 1881 until 1963. Today, the Zion Lutheran Church of Metropolitan stands almost exactly where the old village used to be. Now, this area is mostly farms along country roads. People sometimes called Metropolitan "Milltown" or "Farmertown."
Theodore and Felch Mountain
Theodore is another unincorporated community on M-69. It is about half a mile northwest of Felch. This community was planned in 1881 for a company involved in canals, railways, and iron.
Felch Mountain is also an unincorporated community on M-69. It is right next to Theodore, just to its east. Both Theodore and Felch Mountain are located on a steep hill north of M-69. The communities of Felch and Metropolitan are in the lower land south of M-69.
Spruce Station
Spruce was a station on the Chicago and North Western Railway. It was located near where Lucas Road meets M-69.
