He started learning the kaval at a young age. He studied at the Kotel Music School and later at The Academy of Music and Dance in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The kaval is an old wooden flute with eight holes. It's sometimes called a "shepherd's flute" and has a rich, beautiful sound.

This includes a French-Bulgarian movie called "Granitza" (which means "The Border") from 1993. He also recorded music for films by famous Italian composers like Carlos Siliotto and Ennio Morricone. These films were "An Italian Story" and "The Breakout of the Innocent." He even performed with other jazz stars like Wynton Marsalis at the fourth European Jazz Night.
