Theryl DeClouet (born September 17, 1951 – died July 15, 2018) was an American singer. He was known for his soul and R&B music. People also called him House Man.
Theryl DeClouet was best known as the former lead singer for the band Galactic. He was born in Hollygrove, a neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He sang on Galactic's first four studio albums. He also appeared on a live album and a collection of their songs. Theryl DeClouet left the band because of his health. The band's busy touring schedule was too much for him.
He also released his own music as a solo artist. His album The Truth Iz Out featured help from his friend Ivan Neville. Guitarist June Yamagishi from the band Papa Grows Funk also played on it.
In 2001, Theryl DeClouet sang on an album by the Charlie Hunter Quintet. This album was called Songs from the Analog Playground. It was the first time Charlie Hunter's band had a singer. DeClouet sang on two songs: "Mighty Mighty" by Earth, Wind & Fire and "Spoonful" by Willie Dixon.
In 2005, Theryl DeClouet even appeared in a movie. He played Judge Locke Randolph in The Dukes of Hazzard.
Theryl DeClouet passed away on July 15, 2018, when he was 66 years old.
