History of Thiruvarur

Before 1991, Thiruvarur and Nagapattinam districts were part of a bigger area called Thanjavur district. Then, in 1991, they became their own separate districts. This means they got their own local areas, called 'taluks', to manage things.

People in Thiruvarur

In 2011, about 1,264,277 people lived in Thiruvarur district.
