Maria Kirstine Dorothea Jensen (born January 19, 1876 – died May 14, 1957) was a Danish writer. She wrote many books and articles using the name Thit Jensen. She was famous for her short stories and plays. She also wrote articles that talked about important social issues.

Thit Jensen received many special awards for her writing. These included the Tagea Brandt Rejselegat in 1935 and the Holberg Medal in 1940. She was also honored with the Royal Medal of Recompense in 1949. In 1954, she became a member of the Order of the Dannebrog. These awards showed how much her work was valued.

Her Early Life

Thit Jensen was born on January 19, 1876. Her birthplace was a town called Farsø in Denmark. Her parents were Hans and Marie Kirstine Jensen. Her father was a veterinarian, which is an animal doctor. Thit was one of eleven children in her family.

One of her brothers was Johannes V. Jensen. He also became a very famous author. Growing up in a family with so many children, and with a brother who also loved writing, must have been interesting!

Her Later Years

Thit Jensen passed away on May 14, 1957. She died in a town called Bagsværd in Denmark. She was buried in the cemetery in her hometown of Farsø. Her stories and ideas continue to be remembered.
