Fighting in the Dade Battle

Thlocklo Tustenuggee was one of three leaders in a major battle. About 300 Seminole warriors fought in this event. It became known as the Dade Massacre. This battle was a significant moment in the war.

Meetings and Negotiations

During the war, Thlocklo Tustenuggee met with General Walker Keith Armistead. Another important Seminole leader, Halleck Tustenuggee, was also there. They tried to talk and find a peaceful solution. However, their talks did not work out. The fighting continued after these meetings.

When the war finally ended, Thlocklo Tustenuggee's group was one of the few Seminole bands still in Florida. In 1843, he and 26 of his followers were moved from Florida. They traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana. They were taken there on a ship called the USS Lawrence. Other Native Americans were also on this journey.

Thlocklo Tustenuggee's passing was reported in newspapers. This showed how important he was. His death, like those of other Native American leaders, was connected to the difficult period known as the Trail of Tears. This was a time when many Native American people were forced to move from their homes.
