Who Was Thomas Bradley?
Thomas Bradley was born in Worcester, England. For some time, he ran a school there where he taught mathematics. Around 1786, he decided to change his career. He stopped teaching and began studying medicine.
Bradley's Medical Training
To become a doctor, Bradley went to Edinburgh. He studied hard and earned his medical degree (M.D.) in 1791. After finishing his studies, he moved to London. On December 22, 1791, he became a licensed doctor with the College of Physicians.
Working as a Physician
From 1794 to 1811, Dr. Bradley worked as a physician at the Westminster Hospital. He helped many patients during his time there. Thomas Bradley passed away in St George's Fields at the end of 1813.
What Did Thomas Bradley Write?
Dr. Bradley was also a writer and editor. His doctoral paper was called De Epispasticorum Usu in variis morbis tractandis.
Editing and Books
For many years, he was the editor of the Medical and Physical Journal. This was an important publication for doctors at the time. He also helped update and expand a book called Fox's Medical Dictionary in 1803. In 1813, he published his own book, Treatise on Worms and other Animals which infest the Human Body.
Contributions to Cyclopedias
Thomas Bradley also wrote articles about medicine for a large encyclopedia called Rees's Cyclopædia. This shows his wide knowledge in the field of medicine.
