Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Sir Thomas Dutton was an English knight who lived a long time ago, from 1421 to 1459. He was the son of Sir John Dutton and Margaret Savage.

His family owned a large home called Dutton Hall in Cheshire, England. Interestingly, the original building of Dutton Hall was moved in the 1930s! It now stands in West Sussex and used to be a school.

Sir Thomas Dutton, along with his brother John, his oldest son Peter, and his father-in-law Lord Audley, all died on the same day. This happened on September 23, 1459, during a big battle called the Battle of Blore Heath. This battle was part of a famous conflict in English history known as the War of the Roses. Lord Audley was leading about 10,000 soldiers to protect King Henry VI's throne.
