Thomas Hazlehurst (born around 1740 – died around 1821) was a talented English artist. He was known for painting tiny, detailed pictures called miniature portraits.

Thomas was born in Liverpool, England. He learned to paint from a famous artist named Joshua Reynolds. Thomas showed his artwork in Liverpool for many years. He exhibited his paintings at the Society for Promoting Painting and Design from 1760 to 1818. He also showed his art at the Liverpool Academy between 1810 and 1812. He earned a lot of money from his paintings, more than £20,000! However, he made some poor choices with his money and sadly passed away without much wealth.

Thomas Hazlehurst's paintings are known for being very detailed and beautiful. People say his work was of "great excellence." You can find some of his art in the British Museum. There is also a special collection of his paintings of Lancashire plants in the City of Liverpool Library.

This information suggests he was likely the Thomas Hazlehurst who was born on November 20, 1763, in Lymm, Cheshire, to John and Sarah Hazlehurst.

When Did Thomas Hazlehurst Die?

Thomas Hazlehurst passed away in Liverpool in 1821. He was buried at St. James, Toxteth, on June 19, 1821. The burial record states he was 59 years old when he died.
