Thomas Wyndham was born in Wiltshire, England. His father was Colonel John Wyndham, and his mother was Alice Fownes. His grandfather, Sir Wadham Wyndham, was a respected judge during the time when King Charles II returned to the throne.

Thomas went to school at Salisbury Cathedral School. Later, he studied at Wadham College, Oxford. He then trained to become a lawyer at Lincoln's Inn in London. This training allowed him to practice law.

A Career in Law and Politics

Thomas Wyndham had a successful career in law and government. From 1724 to 1726, he served as the Chief Justice of the Irish Common Pleas. This was a high position in the Irish court system.

In 1724, he also joined the Privy Council of Ireland. This was a group of important advisors to the monarch. In 1726, he was chosen to be the Lord Chancellor of Ireland. This was one of the most powerful legal jobs in Ireland. He held this position for 13 years.
