The Agave univittata, also known as the thorn-crested century plant or thorn-crested agave, is a cool plant found in warm places. It grows naturally along the coasts of southern Texas and northeastern Mexico. You can find it in areas that are not very high above sea level, usually less than 100 meters (about 300 feet).
This agave has thick, fleshy leaves that feel stiff. The edges of its leaves are wavy, and they have sharp spines. These spines are very noticeable on the edges and tips of the leaves. When it flowers, it sends up a tall stalk that can reach up to 5 meters (about 16 feet) high. The flowers are usually greenish-white to yellowish-green.

Where Does the Thorn-Crested Agave Grow?
This agave plant loves warm, coastal areas. Its natural home is in the southern parts of Texas and the northeastern regions of Mexico. It prefers places close to the sea, where the elevation is quite low.
