Tibor Pleiß (born November 2, 1989) is a professional basketball player from Germany. He plays as a center for Trapani Shark in Italy's Lega Basket Serie A. Standing at 7 feet 3 inches, he is a very tall player. Tibor is also a key member of the German national team.

Playing in Europe

Tibor Pleiß began his professional basketball career in 2006. He was just 17 years old when he joined RheinEnergie Köln in the German League. He played with this team for three years.

In 2009, he moved to another German team, the Brose Baskets. He stayed there for three years too.

On June 24, 2012, Tibor left Germany to play in Spain. He signed a four-year contract with Saski Baskonia, a strong team in the Liga ACB. During the 2013–14 season, he played very well. He scored about 12.4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds per game. After two years, he left Baskonia.

On August 11, 2014, Tibor signed with another famous Spanish club, FC Barcelona. He played there for one season. In July 2015, he decided to end his contract early. He wanted to try playing in the NBA in the United States.

Time in the NBA

Tibor Pleiß was chosen in the 2010 NBA draft. The New Jersey Nets picked him, but then traded his rights to the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks then sold his rights to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In February 2015, his rights were traded again to the Utah Jazz.

On July 14, 2015, Tibor signed a contract with the Utah Jazz. He played his first NBA game on October 30, 2015. He scored two points and got one rebound in that game. He also spent time playing for the Idaho Stampede. This team was Utah's affiliate in the D-League, a league where players can develop their skills.

On August 26, 2016, Tibor was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. However, just five days later, the 76ers decided to let him go.

Back to Europe

After his time in the NBA, Tibor returned to Europe. On September 12, 2016, he signed with Galatasaray, a team in Turkey. He played for them during the 2016–17 season.

On July 28, 2017, Tibor signed a two-year deal with Valencia Basket in Spain. He continued to show his skills there.

On August 1, 2018, Tibor joined Anadolu Efes S.K., a Turkish club. He played with them for six seasons, which is a long time for a professional player! He helped them win many games and championships. On June 17, 2024, he left the team.

On August 8, 2024, Tibor signed with Trapani Shark in Italy. This is his current team.

Playing for Germany

Tibor Pleiß has also played a lot for the German national basketball teams. He was part of the junior teams when he was younger. He played in important tournaments like the FIBA Europe Under-18 and Under-20 Championships.

Later, he joined the senior German national team. He played in the EuroBasket 2009 tournament. He was also the starting center for Germany in the 2010 FIBA World Championship. He continued to represent Germany in EuroBasket tournaments in 2011 and 2013.
