Tilda was started by an entrepreneur named Rashmi Thakrar. He came to the UK in 1972 during a difficult time when many people of Asian descent had to leave Uganda. Mr. Thakrar built Tilda into a successful company.
In 1994, Tilda began its Foodservice division. This allowed them to supply their rice products to larger kitchens and food companies.
Who Owns Tilda?
Over the years, Tilda has been owned by different groups. In 2014, a company from the United States called Hain Celestial bought Tilda.
Later, in August 2019, Hain Celestial Group sold Tilda to a Spanish company called Ebro Foods. Ebro Foods is a large international food group that specializes in rice, pasta, and sauces.
