Eugene Timothy Bassett (born April 1, 1951 – died December 9, 2018) was an American professional basketball player. He was known for playing as a power forward and center. After his basketball career, he worked with a charity called Heroes and Cool Kids.

Tim Bassett started his basketball journey in college. He played for the University of Georgia team.
Becoming a Pro Player
In 1973, Tim was chosen by two different professional basketball leagues. The Buffalo Braves picked him in the NBA draft. The San Diego Conquistadors also picked him in the ABA Supplemental Draft.
He decided to start his career in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He played for the San Diego Conquistadors from 1973 to 1975. Then, he joined the New York Nets and played with them from 1975 to 1976.
Playing in the NBA
In 1976, the ABA and NBA leagues joined together. After this, Tim Bassett continued to play for the Nets, who became the New Jersey Nets. He played for them until 1979.
Later, he also played for the San Antonio Spurs from 1979 to 1980. Tim Bassett played a total of 473 games in the ABA and NBA. He was known for being a strong player who grabbed many rebounds.
