Tim Kelly's AFL Journey
Playing for Geelong (2018–2019)
Geelong picked Tim Kelly in the 2017 AFL draft. He was chosen as the 24th player overall. He was a bit older than most draftees, which is why he was called an "over-age" player.
He played his first AFL game in 2018. It was against Melbourne at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After his first year, other players voted him the "Best First Year Player."
At the end of 2018, Tim wanted to move to the West Coast Eagles. But Geelong decided to keep him. In 2019, he had a fantastic year. He was chosen for the "All-Australian team," which means he was one of the best players in the league. He also finished in the top 5 for the Brownlow Medal, a very important award. He helped Geelong reach the preliminary final, which is like a semi-final before the Grand Final.
After the 2019 season, he asked again to join the Eagles. This time, Geelong agreed, and he moved clubs on 9 October 2019.
Playing for West Coast (2020–Present)
Tim Kelly officially joined the West Coast Eagles in 2020. He signed a six-year contract with the club. He has continued to be a key player for the Eagles. In 2021, he won the Glendinning–Allan Medal for being the best player in a game against Fremantle. In 2023, he won the John Worsfold Medal, which is the award for West Coast's best and fairest player.
