Timber Cove is a small community located in Sonoma County, California. It is known as a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means it's an area set up by the government for counting people. Timber Cove sits about 554 feet (169 meters) above the ocean. In 2010, a count showed that 164 people lived there.

Where is Timber Cove?
Timber Cove covers an area of about 5.7 square miles (14.6 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water inside its borders.
Who Lives in Timber Cove?
In 2010, 164 people lived in Timber Cove. Most of the people were White (about 93%). There were also small groups of African American, Native American, and Asian people. About 5.5% of the people were of Hispanic or Latino background.
Everyone counted lived in homes. There were 85 homes in total. About 19% of these homes had children under 18 living there. The average home had about two people.
The people in Timber Cove are of different ages. About 13% were under 18 years old. More than half (51%) were between 45 and 64 years old. About 20% were 65 years or older. The average age was around 55 years.
Timber Cove's Past
People from outside the area first settled in Timber Cove around 1856. It was once a "doghole port." This was a special type of small harbor where lumber (wood) was sent down from cliffs using chutes. The wood was then loaded onto ships called schooners.
The lumber business was very important in Timber Cove until about 1925. After that, farming, especially ranching and dairy farming, became the main way people made a living.
A Special Statue
One famous sight in Timber Cove is a large statue called Bufano's Peace Obelisk. It is also known as Madonna of Peace or The Expanding Universe. This statue is 93 feet tall and was created by an Italian-American artist named Beniamino Bufano.
The statue stands on a bluff (a high cliff) that looks out over the Pacific Ocean. It is located on the grounds of the Timber Cove Resort. The statue was built between 1962 and 1970. A small state park now surrounds the statue, extending 60 feet in every direction from it.
