Timote is about 18 km (around 11 miles) east of the main town of Carlos Tejedor. You can reach Timote by using Provincial Roads 68 and 70.

How Many People Live in Timote?

According to a national count of people (called a census) in 2010, there were 526 people living in Timote. This was a small increase from the 509 people counted in the 2001 census.

The History of Timote

The town of Timote has a special history. In 1876, a fort was built near the Foromalán lagoon. This fort was named Capitán Timote Fort. It was founded by Conrado E. Villegas.

The fort was named to honor Lieutenant Colonel Pedro Timote. He was born in Buenos Aires in 1836. Sadly, he died in the Santa Rosa battle in 1874. The town of Timote grew around this historic fort.
