Tinney is a small, quiet place located in Sandusky County, in the state of Ohio, USA. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government, like a mayor or city council. Instead, the county government helps manage things for the people living there.

How Tinney Got Its Name

Long ago, in the 1830s, a man named John L. Green came to live in this area. He was a local judge, which means he helped make important decisions in court. Because of him, the place was first called Greensburg.

Later, in 1889, something new happened. A post office was opened here. A post office is a place where you can send and receive letters and packages. This new post office was given the name Tinney. It helped people in the area stay connected by mail for many years. The Tinney post office stayed open until 1904.
