Tintinhull is a small village located about 10 kilometres east of Tamworth, New South Wales, Australia. It sits between the towns of Nemingha and Kootingal, right on the New England Highway. This little place is about 466 kilometres from Sydney. It was once connected by the Main North Rail Line, which operated from 1885 until 1971.

Even though Tintinhull doesn't have shops or petrol stations, it has a primary school with around 50 students. You can also find a pottery studio and a cool pyramid-shaped observatory there. The highest point in the area is known as Goat Hill.

The Story of Tintinhull

Tintinhull got its name from a village in Somerset, England. Early settlers, who were people moving from England to Australia, named this new place after their old home. This is also why there's a connection between Yeovil in England and Yeoval in New South Wales.

A School's History

The Tintinhull Public School has a long history. A document celebrating the school's 100th birthday tells us that Joseph Chaffey started Tintinhull Farm and also helped create the school. Interestingly, a book called "Tingal Tales" from Tintinhull village in England also mentions a Joseph Chaffey who was linked to The Old Bakery there. This suggests a strong connection between the two places.

In the late 1950s or early 1960s, a radio team from Kootingal visited the Tintinhull primary school in England. This visit helped many students from both places become pen pals, writing letters to each other and learning about different cultures.
