Todd Dulaney was born on December 20, 1983, in Maywood, Illinois. His parents are Thomas and Tommye Dulaney. When he was young, Todd loved sports, especially baseball. He played baseball at Wabash Valley College, a local community college.

In 2002, the New York Mets baseball team chose him in the MLB June Amateur Draft. He played professional baseball in the minor leagues for a few years. However, after the 2005 season, Todd decided to stop playing baseball. He felt that God was calling him to make gospel music instead. He then started learning from another gospel artist, Smokie Norful, who invited him to tour.
