Tolovana Hot Springs is a very remote natural hot spring. It is one of the four main hot springs found in the Tolovana River Valley in Alaska.

Where is Tolovana Hot Springs Located?
Tolovana Hot Springs is about 45 air miles (72.5 km) northwest of Fairbanks. It sits in the beautiful Tolovana River Valley.
What Can You Find at Tolovana Hot Springs?
Besides the warm hot springs, there is also a cold spring. This cold spring provides fresh drinking water.
There are three small cabins at the site. You can reach them by following an eleven-mile (16-km) trail. This trail starts at milepost 93 on the Elliott Highway.
The Trail to the Springs
The trail goes up and over the 2,316-foot (706-meter) Tolovana Hot Springs Dome. From the dome, you can see amazing views of the White Mountains.
The path has two steep downhill parts when you are going in. On the way out, you will face two steep uphill climbs.
You can use the trail by foot, skis, or snowshoes. In winter, temperatures can be very cold, from -20°F to -40°F. During summer, the trail can get very muddy.
There are also three other trails in the area. Two of these trails can only be used in winter. The area also has a private airstrip for small planes.
What is the Water Like?
The water from the hot spring comes out at 140°F (60°C). This water contains natural minerals like sodium chloride and sulfur dioxide. The water's pH level is 7.4, which is slightly alkaline.
