Tom Alain Boon, born on January 25, 1990, is a famous Belgian field hockey player. He plays as a forward for the Léopold club and is also a key player for the Belgian national team. Many people think he is one of the best field hockey players in the world!
Tom has won several important medals. He earned a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He also helped his team win the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup.

Playing for Clubs
Tom Boon began his hockey journey at Royal White Star HC. He later played for Bloemendaal in the Netherlands. He also spent four years with Racing Club de Bruxelles in Belgium. In 2019, he joined Léopold, a top Belgian team that had just won the national championship. He signed a contract to play for them for five seasons.
Playing for Belgium
Tom Boon first joined the Belgian national team in 2008. He has been a big part of their success ever since.
Early International Success
In 2009, his team finished fifth at the European Championship. In 2011, they improved to fourth place. That same year, he helped his club team, Racing Brussels, win the Belgian field hockey championship five times in a row, from 2009 to 2013.
At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Tom played for Belgium, and they finished fifth. In 2013, Belgium won a silver medal at the European Championship held in their home country. Tom scored the first goal in the final against Germany, but Belgium lost 1–3.
Olympic and World Cup Medals
Tom was part of the Belgian team that won a silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He even scored a goal in the quarter-final match.
In 2018, Tom and his team achieved a huge victory. They won the gold medal at the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup. This was a very exciting moment for Belgian hockey.
At the 2019 EuroHockey Championship, Belgium won its first European title. Tom was one of the top goal scorers in that tournament, scoring five goals. In 2020, at the Tokyo Olympics (which happened in 2021), Tom helped Belgium win the gold medal, making them Olympic champions!
More recently, in 2023, Tom and the Belgian team won another silver medal at the 2023 Men's FIH Hockey World Cup. He also played in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
Tom's Family and Hockey
Tom Boon comes from a family that loves field hockey! His grandmother, Jacqueline Ronsmans, played for Belgium internationally. His mother, Carine Boon-Coudron, was also an international player. His uncles, Eric and Marc Coudron, were also famous players, with Marc holding the record for the most international games for Belgium. Tom's sister, Jill Boon, has also played Olympic hockey for Belgium. It's truly a family sport for them!
