Tom Schilling's Early Life and Acting Start
Tom Schilling grew up in Berlin Mitte, which used to be part of East Germany. When he was 12, a theater director named Thomas Heise discovered him. Tom then joined the Berliner Ensemble theater group. He performed in plays there for four years.
Acting helped him earn enough money to move out of his parents' home at 18. He finished school and got his Abitur certificate, which is like a high school diploma.
