Tomas Northug is a Norwegian cross-country skier. He was born on April 19, 1990, in Mosvik Municipality, Norway. He is known for being the middle brother of two other famous skiers, Petter Northug and Even Northug.
Tomas competed for sports clubs like Mosvik IL and Strindheim IL. He achieved great success in his skiing career, especially in sprint races.

Tomas's Skiing Achievements
Tomas Northug has won several important races during his time as a cross-country skier. He showed his talent from a young age.
Junior World Champion
In 2010, Tomas became a Junior World Champion. This means he was the best young skier in the world in his age group. He won two gold medals at the 2010 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Hinterzarten, Germany.
- He won gold in the individual sprint race.
- He also won gold as part of the 4 × 5 km relay team.
Before that, in 2009, he earned a bronze medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the Junior World Championships in Praz de Lys-Sommand.
World Cup Victory
One of Tomas's biggest achievements was winning a World Cup race. The World Cup is a series of top-level competitions held throughout the winter season.
He won a World Cup sprint race in Otepää, Estonia, in January 2015. This was his only World Cup victory and his only time finishing on the podium in an individual World Cup event.
What is the World Cup?
The FIS Cross-Country World Cup is the highest level of competition in cross-country skiing. Skiers from all over the world compete in different races. They earn points based on how well they finish. The skier with the most points at the end of the season wins the overall World Cup title.
Tomas competed in the World Cup for six seasons, from 2010 to 2015. His best overall ranking was 32nd in the 2014–15 season. In sprint races, he was even better, finishing 7th in the sprint standings in the same season.
World Championships Performance
Tomas also competed in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. These championships happen every two years and are another very important event in cross-country skiing.
At the 2015 World Championships, Tomas finished 6th in the men's sprint race. This showed he could compete with the very best skiers in the world.
