But now, boys can join the school for the last two years, called the 6th form.

How TGS Began

Tonbridge Grammar School first opened its doors in 1905. It started small, with only 13 students. The very first teacher and headmistress was Mrs Taylor. The school's first home was on the top floor of the Tonbridge Library. As more students wanted to join, the school quickly grew bigger. Because of this, in 1913, TGS moved to its current location in Deakin Leas. The new site had more space for all the growing number of students.
