Anthony Paul James Smurfit, born in 1963, is a successful businessman from Ireland. He is the main leader, or CEO, of a big company called Smurfit Westrock. This company makes packaging, like boxes and containers. It's even named after his grandfather, John Jefferson Smurfit!
Tony Smurfit's Early Life
Tony Smurfit was born in 1963 in a town called Wigan in England. His father, Michael Smurfit, was also a businessman. Tony went to school in Ireland at St Gerard's School. Later, he studied management at the University of Scranton in America, finishing in 1985. After college, he even went to Japan to learn more about how packaging is made.
His Career in Business
Tony joined the Jefferson Smurfit company in the 1980s. At that time, his father was in charge. Tony became a director, which is a leader, in 1989. He worked in many different roles in both the United States and Europe. He even led the company's work in France for a while.
In 1999, Tony became the chief operations officer (COO) for the company's European section. This means he helped manage all the daily activities. By November 2002, he was promoted to COO for the entire company.
In September 2015, Tony Smurfit became the CEO of Smurfit Kappa. This is a very important job, as he leads the whole company. He also helps guide other important groups, like the Confederation of European Paper Industries. He is also an honorary consul for Mexico in Ireland, which means he helps represent Mexico there.

Tony Smurfit is married to Sharon Devlin, who used to be a model and actress. They have four children together. One of Tony's hobbies is breeding horses. He was even on the board of the Irish National Stud, which is a famous place for horses in Ireland.
